An inspiration by Pierre Pignon
During my latest visit in France, I went to LaGacilly, a beautiful flowery village in Brittany where I visited the art gallery of Pierre Pignon, a local painter. His artist style inspired me in the creation of BRIX and URBAN RED.
For these two paintings I used gesso to create relief and volume then I applied red as the main colour. To give a textural effect I applied black over the red then swept it off immediately. This technique gives a particular effect to the painting, which is a sort of aging that enhances a vintage aspect.
